It's nearly a year...

Time flies when your in the pub. And of course, the pub only exists when your in it. Or the times when you want to be in it, but you can't. So, obviously, a day in the Brandling Villa must be like month in a bus station or estate agents or a bun shop.

Still, even for us 'ever present' folk, it's hard to believe it's been a year since we first arrived. Our first day of ripping down the curtains and chucking out all that furniture seems like yesterday. We had chips after that, and went to Victory, where they laughed at us for taking up such a thankless challenge.

Those guys work here now.

Anyway, we might not have done half the things we hoped we would have done, but we have done somethings we thought we could never have done (and somethings we should never have done). So, surely that's reason to celebrate, so we're having a bit of knees up. Wednesday 15th September is the day. Wylam Brewery are knocking up a birthday brew for us...that'll be nice, and were looking to visits from some of our musical friends for knees up sing songs...

Hope to see you there folks. Thanks for all the support.
D.

P.S. We will sell chocolate cake by then...

Hmm, blog eh?

Hello punters & friends,

Here is our new blog, which you can now use as a direct portal into the minds of us at the Brandling Villa. I know, it's late at night & you're reading the thoughts & opinions of the bar staff at your local pub, but hey, some of the greatest occurances of history stemmed from the thoughts & opinions of the folk in a local pub. Although maybe not this one.

Maybe that's what this is for.

What we would like it for is to consult you, the punter. We have facebook & twitter and all that banter, but we know what you've had for lunch and whether you think the weathers rubbish.

See, you might be familiar with the things we've already done (the Sausage & Ale Festival, the Big Pie Weekend, the BV Folk Festival) & the things we have planned (the BV Oktoberfest, the BV beard & moustache championships, the FILMisFREE film festival), but we need to know what you want to hear, see, drink, eat and so on. No matter how bizarre or mundane.

Tell us if our wallpapers rubbish and you find our hairdo's aesthetically pleasing or not. Present us with well structured arguments for us to wear lederhosen, sell chocolate coated kippers or host a monkey boxing match...or tell us if our blogs rubbish.

We'd like to keep in touch with all our resident and not so resident musicians...our folk musicians on Tuesdays, our blues contingent from Henry's Swing Club.

Plus, the guys who frequent us for their book club and their blog... http://gosforthbookclub.blogspot.com/2010/06/im-back.html.

So enlighten us...

See you down the pub.
